Affordable Rent
What is Affordable Rent?
Eligibility
Our Affordable Rent homes are available to applicants in housing need and with a household income below £80,000 per annum. Applicants must also have a local connection to the area they choose to live either through work, immediately family or existing address.
So not encourage people to live in housing which they cannot afford, applicants must demonstrate that the rent charged does not exceed 40% of their gross income.
Our aim is to prioritise households from our primary customer group and who are in employment, where possible. Exceptions are made where applicants are unable to work due to a disability or caring responsibility.
Applying through your Local Authority
We may be required to advertise some of our Affordable Rent homes through the Local Authority. To secure one of these homes you will need to register with the Local Authority Housing Department for the area you wish to live. Many councils use choice-based lettings schemes.
If you are successfully nominated for one of our properties advertised through your local council’s scheme, we’ll contact you to talk you through our tenancy application process.
How to secure an Affordable Rent property:
3. Once you find a home that’s right for you, you may bid on it. You can bid on more than one property at a time.
4. All bids are then ranked from highest priority to lowest. The highest priority will be offered the property first.
5. If you’re successful, and you pass our Tenant Reference Checks, you may view the property.
6. Should you wish to proceed, we will prepare the Tenancy Agreement and set a move in date.
